DMV Elite’s New Memorial Day Tournament

DMV Elite has recently announced a new Memorial Day Basketball tournament, the Memorial Amateurs Championship Tournament also known as The MAC. This tournament is designed to attract teams from across the country to compete for national recognition, exposure and bragging rights.

With this being the first year for The MAC, Director Chris Lawson is looking for it to become a big success, “The MAC is building to become the future largest youth amateur event on the East Coast.” With multiple teams coming from the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area and other teams from  Delaware, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina and Pennsylvania expected to compete for the trophy, DMV Elite is looking to make this a national tournament with top caliber AAU teams.

DMV Elite has been known in the AAU Basketball scene for some time now. With their coverage of local basketball players to their annual high school holiday tournament they provide national exposure to young men and women who are looking to continue their basketball careers in college, with many of their players moving on to play at the Division I, II or III levels. Lawson explained “DMV Elite has leveraged media and scouting reports to help kids gain more recognition throughout their young careers in pursuit of a college education. We provide a free value by consistently recognizing and promoting top performing kids as well as providing training for the younger ages”. You can look on their Facebook page to see highlights of the best high school matchups, recruiting profiles and incredible dunks. I frequently visit their site to get updates and highlights of future University of Maryland players.

DMV Elite has created The MAC as another way of getting additional exposure for its young athletes. In fact, one of the prizes this year is each player on the winning team gets a video interview put on DMVElite.com– a site that generates a couple thousand hits a day. Not only that, but with numerous D- I prospects playing in the tournament it is sure to be filled with recruiters and head coaches from across the country.

DMV Elite also takes pride in hosting these events to show off the great DMV area. Lawson says, “We’re looking to attract families and teams to the DC/Baltimore market giving them a great competitive weekend as well as an opportunity to see the DMV”. This tournament gives players and their families the opportunity to visit our Nation’s Capital, the Capital Wheel at National Harbor or the beautiful Inner Harbor in Baltimore.

The MAC takes place from May 23rd-25th at the Bowie City Gymnasium and New 24 Sports Center. Boys and Girls AAU teams from the 2nd-11th grades can register online at DMVElite.com. With the affordable price, great competition and national exposure this is sure to be one of the premier AAU events this year and for years to come.
