Youth & Amateur Sports Grant and Michael Erin Busch Fund, and Major Sports & Entertainment Events Fund

The Maryland Stadium Authority, through its Maryland Sports Commission division, is currently conducting a review of the Youth & Amateur Sports Grant and Michael Erin Busch Fund, and Major Sports & Entertainment Events Fund.

The review includes evaluation of program guidelines, application requirements, funding priorities, evaluation criteria, and internal review processes to ensure the programs continue to support events that generate economic impact, enhance quality of life, and advance sports tourism throughout Maryland.

As a result, the opening of the FY27 application cycle, originally anticipated for June 2026, has been delayed while this review is completed.

Additional information regarding the application timeline, program guidelines, and funding opportunities will be announced following completion of the review process.

Events Occurring Prior to Portal Opening

Organizations with events occurring before the FY27 application portals open may establish eligibility for consideration through the submission of a Notice of Intent to Apply.

The Notice of Intent process is intended to ensure that organizations are not disadvantaged by the delayed opening of the FY27 application cycle.

Funding recommendations are subject to program eligibility requirements, available funding, applicable approval processes, and, where required, approval by the Maryland Stadium Authority Board of Directors.

Events Occurring During the Application and Review Period

Once the application portals open, applications must be submitted prior to the event occurring.

Funding decisions may occur before, during, or after an event takes place. Submission of an application prior to the event establishes eligibility for consideration but does not guarantee funding.

Important Information

  • Submission of a Notice of Intent is not a grant application.
  • Submission of a Notice of Intent does not reserve funding.
  • Submission of a Notice of Intent does not guarantee funding.
  • Organizations submitting a Notice of Intent must complete the full FY27 application once the portal opens.
  • All applicants must comply with applicable program requirements, guidelines, and reporting obligations.
  • Funding recommendations are subject to program eligibility requirements, available funding, applicable approval processes, and, where required, approval by the Maryland Stadium Authority Board of Directors.
