Based out of Harford County, Top of the Bay Lacrosse is a premiere lacrosse event organization creating marquee tournaments annually for girls ages eight to 18 to play lacrosse while having fun with their friends as well as getting recruited in their later years.Top of the Bay Lacrosse hosted more than 600 teams in five of their tournaments over the course of this past summer, estimating roughly 12,200 athletes participating. Through the Charged Up Brand, Top of the Bay also hosts events in Florida, California, Georgia, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Virginia. They also hold their own two tournaments in Tennessee that have grown to be some of the largest lacrosse tournaments in the Midwest.
Krystin Porcella, President of Top of the Bay Lacrosse, stated, “Laxin Out Loud is one of our elite events for Top of the Bay Lacrosse. This event has so much to offer the young athletes, coaches and fans. We have the top competition from across the country competing for a championship in every age group. We have dance contests with professional DJs for all teams to get involved and have some fun off the field. We have the Dick’s Sporting Goods Coach’s Sportsmanship Awards to reward coaches for fair play, sportsmanship and positivity on the sideline. We have live streaming so games can be seen around the country. We have the Baltimore Ride vs. Long Island Sound game being played on site in the middle of the tournament for all of the young athletes to witness women’s professional lacrosse. This tournament has it all!”
In addition to Top of the Bay Lacrosse’s main tournaments held every summer and fall, they have added some new events for 2018. Live Love Lax is a tournament coming up in June 2018 to benefit the One Love Foundation. The One Love Foundation was formed in 2010 in honor of Yeardley Love, a women’s lacrosse player at the University of Virginia who was abused and killed by her ex-boyfriend three weeks before graduation. The concept of this tournament is to educate young lacrosse players about healthy relationships and showcase the athleticism of premiere collegiate student athletes. Approximately 345 teams are registered to play in Live Love Lax, a large increase from most of Top of the Bay’s draw due in part to benefitting the One Love Foundation.
Porcella also stated, “We are very proud of our involvement in the growth of lacrosse and our ability to provide playing opportunities to athletes across the country and internationally.”
