What started out as a senior project for two young men at Boys’ Latin School of Maryland is now a booming business in the sports world, raising millions of dollars each year to benefit our veterans.
Maryland is known as the hotbed of lacrosse in the Mid-Atlantic, with tons of tournaments in all four seasons throughout the State. One event that has been here for seven years is here to stay, and it is one that comes to the area and plays for 24 hours straight, bringing the community together for a great cause.
Shootout for Soldiers is a 24 hour lacrosse event benefitting American veterans. The event is fun. It’s not a tournament or about recruiting. The event is all about supporting those who serve our country. Shootout for Soldiers’ approach is to educate, engage and amplify; educate the community, engage the military communities, and amplify the work of non-profits.
In 2017, the event raised over $201,000 in Baltimore alone through the support of over 2,500 players and 15,000 spectators in the community. Shootout for Soldiers has 12 different locations this year including Baltimore. At the start of every event, there is a Veterans and Active Duty game that is entirely free to participate in.
