Featured Venue: Harry Grove Stadium
As unbelievable as it may seem, when Harry Grove Stadium opened the doors in 1990 it was considered an innovation in stadium design because the entrance and concourse are at the top of the stands such that you walk down to your seat. And while just about every stadium today is designed the same way, after a sixty-year baseball drought in Frederick it’s safe to say that Harry Grove Stadium will always be one of the county’s most treasured venues.
Featured Venue: Hillstreet Skate Park
This 17,000-square-foot, all-concrete skate park includes a clover-shaped bowl with depths of five, seven and ten feet. It also includes a smaller, P-shaped bowl and a full street course with such obstacles as four different sizes of handrails, a hip and multiple quarterpipes, including an eight-foot-high quarterpipe with two extensions.
Located in Emmitsburg, Mount St. Mary’s University (or the Mount) has developed many remarkable athletics facilities over the years, including the 3,121 seat multi-purpose Knott Arena. Built in 1987, Knott Arena serves as ]the home of the Mount's men's and women's basketball teams. Knott Arena has given the Mount a great home court advantage throughout the years.
Frederick's premiere skating facility features two NHL regulation rinks (200' x 85'), snack bar, pro shop, skate rentals, seating for spectators and ample parking. The facility is also the home of the Frederick Youth Hockey League, Frederick Firestorm (Women’s), Mid-Maryland Icebergs (Girls U-15) and the Frederick Figure Skating Club.
