Do you want to join in or maybe just watch water sports, live entertainment and enjoy warm weather while having a blast with friends and family? Head to the 2nd Annual Bay Bridge Paddle on Saturday, April 29th at the Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis, Maryland. The event runs from approximately 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Saturday with extended events Friday night for all!

With a beautiful sandy beach on the Western Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, Sandy Point State Park is a perfect venue for an event of this caliber. There are expansive views overlooking the Bay Bridge and the open water, along with enough space on land for live entertainment and fun for all. This race will bring together all levels of paddlers to be competitive while still having fun. Each race will present a different experience and challenge; the bay’s shifting conditions add to the fun as racers can experience anything from flat water glides to gusty winds and unpredictable swell and tides from the wind and current.

The Elite 9 mile Crossing will challenge racers with a high level of fitness and paddling experience; racers with less experience or conditioning can enjoy the 5K Paddle or the 1.5K recreation course closer to shore. There will also be product demos, raffles, and beach obstacle course fun to entertain everyone, as well as over $7,000 in prizes.

An ABC Events, Inc. spokesperson, who helps coordinate and implement events such as the Maryland Seafood Festival, the Bay Bridge Paddle and others stated, “The Bay Bridge Paddle event staff are super excited for this unique opportunity to shut down the waterways and give paddlers the chance to make their way across the bay.  We are excited to offer this event for not just the elite paddler who can traverse the bay, but for the beginner who is not really sure they can tackle staying on top of their board for longer than 5 minutes!  We have three courses, so you pick the one that is best suited to your skill level. Over 180 participants are already registered with anticipation for more to follow.”
